"Laser Beam" Saleem Destroys Elwood
The 1sts won the toss and sent Elwood in to bat in perfect conditions. Ably supported by John Wilson (2/31), Jayme Saleem produced an outstanding spell of pace bowling to rip through the Elwood top order with figures of 5/29 from 15 overs. The visitors limped to a total of 91. In response, we were 2/33 in slow going with Luke Dallas (10*) and Anton Duddy (3*) at the crease.
The 2nds played Omega at Bricker Reserve, where Liam Polinelli bowled tirelessly for his 2/50 off 18 overs alongside Steven "Jacko" Usher (1/50 off 22 overs) as Omega reached 211 from their allotted overs.
The 3rds returned to form against Carnegie South lead by leg spinner, David Pook who finished with figures of 5/35 off 10 overs. Pook was also ably supported by Ryale Norman (3/29) and Alex Hill (2/19). An unlucky Jack Cafarella (0/17 off 12 overs) bowled well without reward to help restrict Carnegie South to 153 off 47 overs. In response, we were 0/51 with Jeremy Dunning not out on 15 and Graeme Diggle not our on 25.
The 4ths played Omega away, won the toss and elected to bowl. Although Omega were able to reach a respectable total of 236, East Sandy discovered a rare talent in debutante, Robert Pierce who finished with the outstanding figures of 7/55 from 20 overs. Youngster Nick Doran also bowled well with 2/32 off 10 overs. The boys will be looking for a good start in their run chase next week.
No game this week for the 6ths.
