3rds Win Rumble Of Holloway Drive
Wild scenes erupted at East Sandringham as the 3rds powered to an incredible win over Bentleigh ANA at home. Tailender Robbie Devereaux was involved in a physical altercation but had the last laugh to lead the Zebras to an improbable 4 wicket victory. Powerhouse Steve Dewy Dewhurst (80) and keeper Andy Hunter (51*) were instrumental in setting up the victory.
In other results, the 1sts failed to defend their total of 236 against Carnegie South, losing by 4 wickets. Mark Devereaux was the pick of the bowlers with 2/57 off nine overs.
The 2nds returned to the winners list with a convincing victory over Hampton United by 86 runs. Tim Berger (3/9) and Stuart Montfort (4/32) were the chief destroyers as they knocked the visitors over for 123.
The 4ths nearly pulled off a miraculour victory chasing 269 against Benteligh ANA, falling 5 runs short in the final over. Anton Duddy (76) and Michael Edwards (43) were instrumental in getting the boys close.
The 6ths suffered a disappointing loss to top team Mackie, all but ending their finals chances. Defending 192, poor bowling cost the boys as a combination of dropped catches and poor umpiring punctuated the first session. President Mick Cutler bowled well, taking 2/39 from 12 overs.
