Sharks bite but Diggle on fire
The Round 2 clash of the SECA T20 tournament saw the boys (7/185) lose a close high scoring match to Washington Park (7/191) in the last over.
The batsmen were off to a brisk start with marquis player Chris Diggle (80) in continued imperious form having an 84 run partnership with Guy Martyn (47) followed by a 45 run partnership with Mark Devereaux (16) to have the team well placed at 4/165 with 4 overs to bat. Washington bowled well at the death and were able to restrict the total. In what proved a high scoring day, probably one of the top 4 was needed to bat through those final overs to push past the 200 mark.
The Sharks got off to a flier and despite both Mitch Strahan (3/44) and Liam Polinelli (2/38) being on hat trick balls, our 185 always seemed 15 runs short. A little more discipline with the bowling in both line and length will see an improved return next week.
Regardless it was a great game to watch with some exhilarating batting, bowling and fielding on display.
Next Tuesday (22/11/16) sees the lads take on Chelsea Heights/Aspendale Gardens at Beazley Reserve from 5:15pm. A win here will see our team progress to the semi finals.
