Hodge Cracks It!

Brad Hodge fresh from leading the Adelaide Strikers to the top of the BBL ladder with 82no (off 7 overs) and skipper Marker Devereaux with 105 were instrumental in posting a score of 7/270 (40 overs) to defeat Carnegie South (9/244) to push them to equal first on the Longmuir table. The Redbacks fought hard but L Dallas 3/48 (8 overs), M Devereaux 3/27 (4 overs) & M Ryan 1/27 (7 overs) were eventually able to restrict them.

Last week the 1's posted a good win against the (at the time) top of the ladder CHAG. The bowlers restricted them to 7/143 led by L Dallas 2/16 & M Devereaux 2/29 and in reply hit up 6/146 with Ryan Woodward 38no guiding the boys home. This sets the 1's up for the run into the finals with a real chance of securing a home semi.

The seconds have really lifted in the first games of 216 with two nail biting finishes. Last week against CHAG the boys made 133 with Odin Duesbury's carrying his bat through the innings for 61no and bowled them out for 131 to win by 2 runs. Liam Polinelli was the chief destroyer taking the first 5 wickets to finish with 5/25 off his eight overs.

This weekend they took on the undefeated Moorabbin West and knocked up 172 led by R Pearce 47,  A Nicholls 25 & K Knight 23no. Our bowlers had the opposition in all sorts of trouble at 8/96 again led by opener Liam Polinelli 4/30 (8 overs) & M Elms 3/38 (8 overs) by the 20 over mark but some great batting and inconsistent bowling saw the 9th wicket fall at 162. The last pair advanced the score to 172 until Odin Duesbury bowled the last man out with 2 overs to spare.

Both teams take on Bentleigh Uniting this week and with the rest of the games being 2 dayers can really consolidate their positions for the end of the season.
