T20 team into the semi's
Our T20 team had a hard fought victory against Mackie to progress to the T20 semi's next week against Washington Park.
Mackie won the toss and batted. After getting off to a brisk start our bowlers were able to take regular wickets to restrict Mackie to all out for 95 in 17 overs. Honours with the ball were shared, Brett Hampton 3/11 off 3, Mitch Elms 2/7 off 2, Liam Polinelli 2/16 off 3, Guy Martyn 2/18 off 3 and James Napier 1/7 off 2.
Our batsmen came out and were confronted by a very disciplined bowling attack that at one stage had the boys 4/51 in the 9th over still requiring 5 runs an over to win. In came Brett Gibb 18no and Brendan Bennett 31no who then reeled of the required runs getting East home in the last over.
The boys are in great form having qualified for the next round of the T20 Statewide Cup by downing last year's champions in South Caulfield on Sunday at Princess Reserve.
With East Sandy put into bowl, South Caulfield was off to a bright start but some accurate bowling and great fielding restricted the pre-game favourites to 5/138 off their alloted 20 overs. Mark Devereaux 55no and Guy Martyn 71no then strode to the crease and they were untroubled in scoring 0/144 of 17 overs to hand the Zebbies an emphatic victory.
Let's see everyone at training on Thursday to prepare for the final round of 2013, wins are a must coming into Christmas.
